Narrow Aisle / VNA Forklift Truck Training Course

Precision Operator Training | Certified & Accredited | High-Density Warehouse Ready

Course Overview:

Our Narrow Aisle / Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) Forklift Truck Training Course is tailored to the unique requirements of operating specialised man-up or man-down VNA trucks in high-density, narrow-racking environments. Designed to equip operators with the safety knowledge, confidence, and hands-on skills they need, this course ensures full compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations and industry best practices.

VNA trucks are often rail- or wire-guided and are capable of accessing tight racking systems with high precision — making them essential in modern warehousing and logistics. However, due to their complexity and working height, proper training is absolutely critical for safe and effective operation.

Who Is This Course For?

  • New Operators: With no previous experience on VNA trucks.
  • Experienced Operators: Who need certification or want to convert from other truck types.
  • Refresher Candidates: Re-certifying after an expired qualification or time out of practice.
  • Employers: Looking to upskill staff for high-density storage or automated warehouse systems.

Course Content:

Theory Training:

  • Introduction to VNA forklifts (man-up and man-down variants)
  • Applications and benefits in high-density storage
  • Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 responsibilities
  • PUWER & LOLER legislation explained

  • Load stability, lift heights, and mast travel safety
  • Importance of visibility and communication in confined environments
  • Emergency evacuation procedures and fall arrest (man-up trucks)

Practical Training:

  • Daily safety checks and system calibration
  • Entering and exiting the aisle safely
  • Accurate positioning and stacking at height
  • Controlled travel using guide systems (rail/wire)
  • Load handling, placement, and retrieval from deep racking
  • Operating man-up controls and safety harness usage (where applicable)
  • Manoeuvring in tight aisle systems with pedestrian awareness
  • Safe shutdown, parking, and emergency procedures
  • Practical assessment in simulated or live warehouse conditions

Candidates will complete both a written theory test and a practical assessment. Successful operators will receive an Operator Certificate and/or Photo ID Card, valid for 3 years.
